Here we have a Speed Queen grow by Blunted4Life. The grow is still in progress and updates follow when he posts new photos at the other forums.
Before we start these are the strain details in Czech, so that you know what the main feautures of this cross are.
SPEED QUEEN strain info
Typ: převážně indika
Genetika z regionů: Himachal Pradesh, Severní Indie
Pěstování: indoor/outdoor (až do 45´ rovnoběžky, balkon, skleník)
Osvětlení: 400W/m2
Doba kvetení: 55 dnů/ září
Výnos: 400-450 g/m2 (v suchém stavu)
High: volba „surfařů“ – stimulující a vyvážený indika buzz, který vás neuspí. Příjemně uvolňující, stále však ponechává dostatek energie pro společenské aktivity. Skvělé kouření během dne!
Speed Queen
Poslední přírustek v našem katalogu a zároveň naše nejrychleji dozrávající odrůda.
SQ je statná a tuhá indika se silným stonkem (zeleným nebo se vzácně nachovým zabarvením) a širokými listy. Přináší kompaktní palice plné pryskiřice, které mají po usušení skvělý „bag appeal“. Jeden fenotyp má delikátní pomerančovo/citrusové aroma. Ostatní míchají tuto svěžest s více čpivým/skunkovým tónem. Tato indika přesně padne do growboxů, kde jsou vyžadovány nižší rostliny. Pěstování venku je možné až do 45 stupňů sev. šířky, nebo ve skleníku. Listy z palic jsou ve velkém rozsahu pokryty krystaly THC, sklizeň je však snadnou operací, poněvadž všechny palice zůstávají pěkně čísté a robustní. Speed Queen není vybíravá a není těžké ji pěstovat. Pro optimální produkci (všech našich odrůd) doporučujeme přečíst si náš online článek o hnojení. Odrůdy od Mandala Seeds využívají hnojiva velmi efektivně a dobře prosperují v kvalitní půdě i s menšími dávkami hnojiv.
Díky jejímu bujnému růstu a brzké zralosti je tato odrůda výbornou volbou pro začátečníky a pěstování v SOG se zaměřením na maximální počet sklizní za rok. |

These plants from seed are being grown in soil and two of them were topped (top shoot was cut during grow).
You can top the plants, but it only brings more yield if you give them a longer veg time, so that the side shoots grow bigger than normal like in this example.
Let's begin with a look into the grow room shortly before switching to 12/12. The topped SQ are already bushy and have many good shoots. But even the normal plants have the typical Mandala appearance: very fat and big leaves, strong stems, plenty of vigour.

Now we jump over to the interesting part: sticky buds. :D
These are the SQ after 2 weeks in flowering. Because of the longer veg time they went into bud production super fast. |

These photos are from 10. June.
Bud and resin development is coming along nicely. Check out the frosty trichomes on the sun leaves!
The topped plants are getting quality main colas on all shoots, and the head buds are already filling up and quite fat.
This early result shows that Speed Queen can be an interesting choice for SCROG (screen of green).
Her slim growth makes her a perfect SOG strain too as long as veg time is kept at normal rates (25-30 days for soil, or plants up to 25-30cm tall).
Tip: Bigger plants would require some trimming of bottom shoots and a bit more space at the sides so that the leaves don't cover too many buds. |

Ok, let's continue with the budding Speed Queen's...
These are the latest photos from 6. July. They show the plants at 46 days flowering. Two smaller plants are now 37 days under 12/12 light cycle.
A comment made by the grower: "this strain has been quite a joy to grow... with little to no problems at all..."

Ok!
Plants were harvested at 62 days. The grower wanted to have plants with 50% amber trichomes. I told him he has to wait looong time to get this result! After 62 days only 10% were amber and he decided it was more important to have a good harvest than a particular color of trichs. Good decision. ;-)
Now here are the harvest results from the two topped plants...
248 gr. dry buds from both!!
This means each plant yielded 1/2 kilo fresh and trimmed buds before drying. From drying you lose more than 75% in weight. This is an excellent result for indoor.
I also have some more info on the height of the plants. He vegged them longer because they were topped (top shoot was cut at 6. internode). These ladies were 75 cm tall when he switched to 12/12. They reached a height of 1-1.2 meters.

I received the final numbers on the yield from all 5 plants.
Smallest plant which was growing in a pot with a big sister had 78 gr.
Two untopped plants (ie. the top shoot was not cut during veg) yielded 172 gr.
And the two big topped plants had 248 gr.
In total he got 498 gr. buds from the 5 Speed Queen's.
Soon the smoke report should be ready!

| Ja si ji asi objednam no.... netušíte kolik tak může mít THC?? Třeba srovnat s nějakým modelem? Protože mam v plánu pěstit Mazara a k němu hodím i tu Speed queen-Vím že roste rychleji, tak jí tam hodím třeba o týden později... Jakou kombinaci byste mi poradili k te SQ?? Ten mazar by mohl být podobný...taky indika, doba květu 8 týdnů... |

Wow! Great photo and very nice results for SOG. I'm glad you are happy with the bud quality. :)
I would like to know more about results outdoor too. A photo would be perfect and also info when the plant is ready to harvest.

Hi, Mandala Mike.
This outdoor season I tried (besides many others) Mandala´s Speed Queen as well. Unfortunately there was a big chaos in our young plants, so I am not sure which of these two plants is THE Speed Queen. Maybe you can help me solve my little problem, if I write some details.
Both plants grew from original seeds from Seedsboutique. One of them (without any doubt) is Nirvana Special and second is SQ.
BOTH PLANTS:
-muffled in small paper cups from May till July, then fast grow in soil of my field
-topped in first weeks of their life
-wide leafs
-strong stems
-reaped about 21. 10. 2006
Fertilization: chicken´s shits :D +Ripen in last 3 weeks
Soil: local - enriched by manure and sand
Plant A (on the left):
-extremely straight stems
-almost no branching (!)
-Buds: green and hard, but lesser than Plant B and not so big as well
Plant B (on the right)
-made nice tree with several branches
-Buds: beautifully coloured by purple and dark green... bigger than Plant A, but not so hard

Photos are very small so I can't see so well. From your description I think it is plant A: hard buds and no purple is more typical.
How about smell and high? You tried the buds yet? :bong:

It´s a pity I cannot give you a tasting. It has a pleasant smoke, which is slowly expanding in your lungs. It is already acknowledged by three
independent experts that it really has the "speed effect" - positively stimulating & energetic... :D

Well, the effect should be up. But we also call her Speed Queen because of fast (speed) flowering...lol
